I wanted to post this blog because I don’t think I was clear in my earlier postings. I wrote these poems during my struggle through cancer beginning in October and through December, after I had surgery. As of today I am cancer free. This is a chronic cancer so I will be praying for remission for the rest of my life. They removed ten tumors from my duodenum and pancreas. The procedure is called Whipple, named after the man who created it. It was a nine hour surgery. They removed part of my pancreas, stomach, large colon and then reconnected it all! I have my next checkup in March. I felt God’s presence through my entire journey. I am excited to share with people so they can see how awesome God is always!
Also, not all my poems are depressing. I wrote what I felt. I am attaching a happy poem now!
God’s Coffee Angel
God sent me an angel Straight from heaven above He sent a young man To show me His love
In line at a coffee shop This young man wanted to pay For my cup of coffee To help me through the day
I insisted No because I thought I should buy his After all I was older And he looked like a kid
But his insistence won over All the arguments I made So I thanked this young man And cringed while he paid
After we got our coffee I caught him outside And told him about my cancer While letting go of my pride
He said his name was Isaac And I thanked him again He worked at a small church And invited me to attend
He asked if he could pray for me And I said yes please So in the middle of the parking lot He asked Jesus to heal me
As I walked back to my car My eyes filled with tears This young man I didn’t know Was sent from God to calm my fears
